I blame this partly on tipping culture. I just do not understand why the tip amount is proportionate to the value of food being delivered. The fee should be set based on factors that impact LOE and time that impact delivery. That's it. Just like in the rest of the civilized countries. Want $9 happy meal delivered to your house? $5 bucks. Want $30 sushi next door to the McD? $5 bucks. I don't know why we make things so complicated.

  you can, but it defaults to percentage... and that sets the expectation.
