I was really into fountain pens and nice inks when I was 25–35, and yes, writing with them was a finer thing in life that I enjoyed.
You know what else I had during that time? Lots of free time and disposable income. Now that I don’t have any free time, a fountain pen is just fussier to use, and more than anything an annoying reminder of how little brain and energy I have left at the end of the day.
A good fountain pen does not let you enjoy the finer things. What you need for that is free time and disposable income.
