Stuff is only a bombshell if it's uncharacteristic. If you look at political scandals, they only affect people you'd be surprised to find involved. It's why a certain unnamed orange man gets away with stuff - the facts that he's done $egregious_thing contains no new information about his character, so who cares.
Same is true here. True or not, nobody is surprised or shocked that such a thing could happen or that China could behave in whatever way. There's simply no new information content in any revelation. So it basically means nothing, even if "finally" proven. What changes with this knowledge?
(Versus, if it turned out it was some evil Luxemburgish plot, that would be news)

- giardini 3y agoI don't think it "means nothing" as you say. It means Fauci, in spite of Obama's caution, funded research in a low-level containment facility in China, research that created a virus that killed millions and demonstrated Obama was correct. I won't call that "nothing". FTFA: "...President Barack Obama banned federal funding for gain-of-function research of concern in 2014, because experts had come to the consensus that it was too dangerous. However, the National Institute of Health and NIAID headed by Francis Collins and Fauci, and a major U.S. government grantee, EcoHealth Alliance, deemed their work on SARS-like viruses as not falling under the gain-of-function research of concern definitions and funded this project in China and Southeast Asia."
- gsibble 3y agoExactly.
- gsibble 3y agoIt means the American people were lied to and Facebook and Twitter censored tons of people over something that was true.
