Microsoft Airband to give internet access to 40M+ in Latin America and Africa
- r00fus 3y agoIs this similar to Facebook’s move to give internet to India a decade ago (and free-rate FB data)?
- heofhdosh 3y agoFB won btw. india and most of asia, south america, europe, africa... you can use whatsapp outside of your data caps (essentially free data). tiktok is close on all those markets but always missing one or another operator. edit: and No. not the same thing. the article is about using NGOs to bring internet deep into rural areas. it will greatly help illegal logging and mining. nothing good will ever come out of this initiative
