Apparently Alexa is down on the east coast, but not the west coast. Its also reported that Roombas and Ring devices are broken on the east coast.

    > Alexa is down on the east coast, but not the west coast This is implausible to me: I'm on the west coast and my Alexa stuff wasn't working. Moreover, almost all Alexa devices in the US likely use us-east-1. This was true and hard-to-change as of a couple years ago.

It may have to do with what you tried. For me the most basic thing, asking for the time, didn't fail, but more involved applications like music and smart-home (lighting control) did.
