- boredumb 3y agoI assumed with Darker being capitalized it was a title. Perhaps the NYTimes editors are no longer native english speakers?
- FemmeAndroid 3y agoIt’s part of the title of the article, which is in titlecase. That’s why ‘Novelist,’ ‘is,’ and ‘dead’ are capitalized.
- NotYourLawyer 3y agoedit: I’m wrong, disregard. I mean, they capitalized “is” too. Sloppy work, 0/10.
- rphv 3y ago“Is” is a verb, so it should always be capitalized in title case.

- moultano 3y agoThat's how titles of news articles are typically capitalized. The only lowercase words are those that are grammatical connectors.
- AA-BA-94-2A-56 3y agoThis is a culture shock for me because when I studied journalism in Australia I was taught to only capitalise the first letter and proper nouns.
