I would call the tone of 4chan (insulting everything and anyone) to be gatekeeping, specifically against those who wish to have more moderation/"nicer" discourse. IMO gatekeeping (by the community) is a good/necessary thing for spaces to not become completely gutted/become kicked out of what was formerly your space.
