This is how we used git at a small company of ~10 engineers circa 2012. Everyone's personal remote repos were in ~/repos, the mainline repo things were deoloyed from was in a special users home directory. Reviews were a diff file posted in chat. It works fine, granted it doesn't scale great without more tooling. Sometimes i wish we had all doubled down on tooling based on simpler more distributed solutions like this.
