Reddit is still a low-barriers-of-entry community for people who are often marginalized. Lots of women-centered subreddits (like twoxchromosomes) didn't go dark because there's more at stake for the average woman than the most committed of Apollo users. Imagine if reddit could get this kind of solidarity around something that will actually change the world for the better. It's as if no one taught us how collective action works.
