There is a shortage of trained professionals. The baby boomer generation has more chronic health problems than the generation before them. And, there are more of them. This leads to more health care services needed. Yet, where I live the nursing schools have not expanded the number of graduates per year. Supply and demand. Demand is going up. Supply is staying constant.
