I think that Apple’s own needs are an under explored motivation for their high end hardware. I think that the biggest customer of the old iMac Pro was probably Apple themselves. I think the new rack mounted Mac Pro will see heavy use by Apple for making content for the Vision Pro. I have no idea what the camera systems for VR content are or will be but I imagine that a Mac Pro loaded with several video capture cards and high speed PCIe 4 SSDs would make an ideal capture system. Now imagine what would be required to stream a live sporting event in 4k VR. How many different cameras, angles, etc. are there in a production like that? How many racked Mac Pros would that require?
