- screye 3y agoIndia's most elite have blindly imported Oxford/Cambridge culture to India for a good century. Doubly, social justice issues have been a major part of Indian political discourse for a good century too. So it's not surprising at all. What is surprising is how anyone who doesn't use "Pure English" is seen as less than in these circles. Local Indian primary source work is underrated in favor of sweeping generalizations made at invited talks in western universities. It is changing now, but mostly because the new 'tech money' is questioning the elite status of the previous class and soft replacing them.
