Thats not really a “solution”. In fact, it is almost a given — it is essentially the point of the thought experiment. It forces us to recognize that identity is subjective. In some sense it is a counter argument to the Platonic idea of forms.
It becomes really interesting however when you apply it to self-identity and question of a soul. Is there a “self” or is it an illusion? Perhaps there are some things in reality for which this ship analogy does hold?
