I share the sentiment, that many calls to pause AI development come from fear of market disruption and fear of competition, not from genuine concerns over safety. Especially coming from the people who created attention machines that have changed the course of elections, had a major impact in spreading misinformation during a global pandemic, and are contributing to a mental health crisis. And yet we don't hear them call for more regulations for their own markets...
