I’ve found Copilot to be most helpful when working with unfamiliar code. Even when it’s slightly wrong, it does an amazing job of landing me in the right place.
A simple example. If I’m using a library, like datefns, I can describe what I’m looking to do, copilot will find the correct method for me, but might reference the wrong local variable. This is even more helpful when a library has a bunch of similar APIs (parse, parseUTC, parseISO, etc, etc).
It also really helps with the under documented prep work you might need to do. Some libraries have really poor default configurations and setup documentation. They require non-obvious setup that can be hard to track down in documentation. Copilot does an amazing job of getting you in the ballpark. Even if it’s missing settings, it become incredibly clear how a library intends for me to use it.
