  But not brick it. You just restart in worst case. To brick something, you would have to go deep.

      1998 was much later in the timeliness. By then computers had hard-drives so you could damage things in the sense that data could be lost. It's hard to brick a computer by accident though, even today.

        Sure, not by accident, hopefully we have learned something in the years that have passed, though seemingly UEFI malware is a thing even today.
