China wants to launch a moon-orbiting telescope array as soon as 2026
- hunglee2 3y agowhat export controls could be applied to slow down China's space program? I wonder whether they use ZEISS equipment for the lens manufacturer, could be a company that could leaned on to stop supply to the PRC
- adhesive_wombat 3y agoProbably wouldn't worry them too much considering that this is a radio telescope.
- adhesive_wombat 3y agoThe long, variable geometry baseline of such a telescope array could be a huge step up in terms of resolution. Between that and CSST (Xuntian, which is also a "cooperative" satellite in the it co-orbits with the Tiangong 3 space station), there's some very interesting science and engineering in these missions.
