Pentagon Is Freaking Out over Potential China War (Because America Might Lose)
- moose_man 3y agoThat's the big reason for the chip ban. They're worried about war in the next 5 years and are trying to prevent it. Probably it will help Chinese develop their own technology but thats the tradeoff they're willing to make to try to avoid conflict in the next few years.
- toomuchtodo 3y agoThe goal is to slow down China’s geopolitical ambitions until their rapidly aging population makes material military action intractable. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aging_of_China https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aging_of_China
- _8j50 3y agoWhat am I missing here? How can China deliver large numbers of soldiers or missiles in a conventional war to north america? Is the loss here inability to defend taiwan? My $0.02 is that the US will lose no matter what because China will not play by any rules of war but the US will and also, Chinese intelligence can influence US politicians, public and companies much more effectively than vice versa. I would be surprised if China doesn't win the war before it even starts. Does anyone remember how long Russian planes kept buzzing US planes before the Ukraine war? China is doing the same thing to Taiwan and US now. It's basic bully psychology. The only good response is to shoot down their planes when they do that and to agressively respond to their agressions. Like when they did a drill of a taiwan siege, why was there no response by US and allies with a drill about invading China for example. I don't think the US will het involved but China will invade Taiwan. Really, it is Xi invading similar to putin. This is important because a dictator means bully psychology is very relevant. In an actual war, the US should target Three gorges dam, major bridges and use bio/chem attacks against their food supply. But I guarantee nothing of that nature will happen but they won't hesitate to nuke US cities if they have to. That's war. This isn't iraq, China can fight back, playing by rules of war means a very long war with 10s of millions of civilians dead on both sides not to mention famine war all over the world for the rest of the century.
- credit_guy 3y agoI don't even want to read the article. Of course America might lose. America is much more likely to win, but the possibility of losing cannot be ruled out. That's the thing about war: you don't know how it will turn out. That's why it's good to try to avoid it.
- lordfrito 3y agoNot sure the Pentagon (either the building or the organization) is capable of "freaking out".
