Cuba Base Would Help China Identify Strike Targets in U.S.
- activiation 3y agoCan't satellites do that more effectively?
- EA-3167 3y agoThat may be true, but is there ANY indication that China is planning to attack the US mainland? Ever? They don't have the nuclear arsenal or the submarine capacity for a plausible first strike, and attacking the US mainland seems like a really short shortcut to being utterly destroyed. I don't see this as a particularly realistic threat, but honestly I also understand why keeping any adversary out of Cuba is desirable... there's just no need to conjure the specter of WWIII in the process.
- moose_man 3y agoI mean they've definitely shown indications of planning attacks on US territory, so this could be an extension of that. I don't see how attacking US territory is any different than mainland, both are WWIII starters. https://www.reuters.com/article/us-china-usa-security/china-air-force-video-appears-to-show-simulated-attack-on-u-s-base-on-guam-idUSKCN26C0EI https://www.reuters.com/article/us-china-usa-security/china-... https://www.nytimes.com/2023/05/24/us/politics/china-guam-malware-cyber-microsoft.html https://www.nytimes.com/2023/05/24/us/politics/china-guam-ma...
- jprd 3y agoChina doesn't give a sh1t about invading other states (Taiwan isn't another state to the CCCP). They are geographically huge, can barely maintain their own borders and still think they own half of the Pacific. In what universe do they have the reasons, guile and waste of treasure to attempt an act of war that will surely result in the absolute eradication and irradiation of 中国?
