I'm not being flippant: what jurisdiction - especially criminal - does Canada have here?
- buildbot 3y agoThe Apollo dev is Canadian
- spiffytech 3y agoThe Apollo developer is Canadian. Though Reddit is an American company, and I'm not sure what the rules are for cross-region lawsuits.
- tenpies 3y agoI suspect that most Redditors just had rapid expertise emergence (REE) in the subject of international law, with a specialty in Canadian libellous extradition. Let's review the facts: Spez is an American citizen in the United States - a country famous for its Freedom of Speech. Good luck to anyone who wants to make the case that because he may have been slanderous to a Canadian citizen he should be extradited to face Canadian courts.
- pseudo0 3y agoThe SPEECH act is specifically designed to protect Americans against libel tourism, so good luck getting a Canadian judgement to apply in the US. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/SPEECH_Act https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/SPEECH_Act
