Not sure SW was ever about anything but style and setting. A constant science fiction Gulliver's Travels with new people, civilizations, institutions cropping up rapid-fire. Any attempt to rein that in would ossify, fossilize the franchise. It's not about some particular famous characters or planets. It's about constantly seeing new stuff.
