As a casual viewer I knew this 'day' would come once it was acquired by conde naste or whoever. Theyre going IPO and profits are gonna be of greater import than worthwhile and honest content. I will be spending more time on HN.
- ColinWright 3y agoI think it's a case of different platforms for different purposes. I am still in some tight-knit communities on Twitter, rarely engaging outside of my followers and followees, despite Twitters attempts to drag me into other things. I still occasionally read here, and even more occasionally post here. I use an RSS reader and home-grown interactive bookmark/feed system for blogs and websites. I spend most of my on-line time in my Mastodon instance, continuing to build and tend the community there. So different platforms, different ways to engage, different communities.
