These people are insufferable. They result in a braindead society littered with signs, disclaimers, and legal notices. "They should have told me water is wet!", and in response to these kinds of disingenuous, parasitic trolls we burden everyone psychically with signs, disclaimers, and warnings everywhere to placate their nonsense.
To legitimately expend energy suing an organization over a chatbot known to hallucinate and programmed purely for predictive text -- well, someone of that mind should be punished harshly by society. But I know, of course, instead, ChatGPT will be further gimped, with more warnings and more restrictions, to satisfy the worst of us.
In this sort of way, the people akin to tar pits for character of humanity dictate our collective policy and quality of life. And our system enables them, even rewards them.
- chrstphrknwtn 3y agoI think it's important to consider that being called a criminal can have real-world negative impact on a person's life. OpenAI's service appears to incorrectly call people criminals. I think it's legitimate to have a problem with that.
- NoPicklez 3y agoI somewhat disagree. These tools are going to be used more and more and will be further seamlessly integrated into other products. There's AI tools getting small factual things incorrect, then there's AI tools calling you a criminal. If anything, it is irresponsible to release a tool to the general public who may be ill-informed, where said tool can call people criminals and describe their involvement in said crime. If a major news website accessed globally wrongly accused you of being a criminal and confidently described your involvement, you would absolutely be mad.
- kelipso 3y ago> chatbot known to hallucinate This is known to maybe half the people in the tech world. > programmed purely for predictive text Way fewer people know this. Most people think of it as some magical AI or whatever. Even with huge disclaimers about it hallucinating, there are so many APIs into ChatGPT...I can only imagine this getting worse in terms of lawsuits.
