The actual quibbles here seem pretty marginal.
If wasm really ends up being much faster 8 could care more about performance, but my heavens JS has been quite fast for a decade & has been ever improving.
The standard library is growable. We're getting great iteration helpers for example. The async ones had to get revamped, back to stage 2.
