$23.6B. US chips act was $280B. I really hope somehow new companies & things can spawn from these efforts. It's not just making fabs we need. We need a silicon foundry shift again, where students & startups do fabless chipmaking. The current chip market has had soooo much consolidation & the we're down to such a small handfuls of companies doing all the chip designing. If we want a good future, we need to it only the means but a competitive market of makers than know how to use the means. Where all this huge money ends up is such a mystery. I wish there were more obvious routes available for seed stage & small companies. A couple dozen multi million dollar investments a year would cost such a tiny bit of even the EU's funding. And could beget such huge new capabilities for the world, create such amazing new entities.
