Why Nature will not allow the use of generative AI in images and video
- raxxorraxor 3y agoI think the problem of generative text is currently higher than for generative images because the hardware and data requirements are extremely high for text so accessibility is quite limited. I think good conduct would be to watermark generated content. It is probably not possible to offer any compensation to artists that have their works in the public sphere, be that image or text. The latter would have to be true for almost all individual internet users for example because they might have become a data point in a model or not. It other cases it isn't even possible to determine the source. Overall I think the AI revolution poses a smaller problem than the attention and advertising economy does. Sure, it will certainly be disruptive in some cases, but I doubt artists and writers will get supplanted by our new AI overlords. The AI is impressive, but there are also still limitations.
