Apparently the site's own chatbot seems to disagree with the number. > How much of all code in general is written by AI? Answer: Very little code is written by AI. Most code is written by people.

We're now seeing the developers using GitHub Copilot are 55% more productive with it on tasks, and that's sort of measured by independent studies. And 40% of the code they're checking in is now AI-generated and unmodified.

  So, not 50% (which I think we all knew), but an estimated 40% of the people using Copilot (some percentage of devs), with that figure being heavily dependent on how the study was done. Are people self reporting these figures? Because you'd have to think that there'd be a sampling bias there. Anecdotally, copilot has gotten in my way more than it has been useful, so I'm having trouble buying these figures.
