I already have to search out "clear" gas to gain back the 25% mpg loss I receive when I use ethanol (currently 15% I believe in Oregon?).
I fear what adding more will do. if I don't use clear gas, I have to run my car a lot more often, which is also not good.
- Nullabillity 3y ago25-30% is roughly the difference I see between E10 and E85. I'd be very surprised if E0 and E10 had the same difference in mileage.
- sidewndr46 3y agoI accidentally got ethanol free gas one time and was baffled at the sky high fuel economy I was getting for that whole tank.
- soperj 3y agoI noticed a massive difference in L/100Km when i filled up in the US vs Canada. It was unquestionably cheaper to fill up though.
- jerrysievert 3y agoit is more expensive to buy clear gas, but the savings in gas mileage usually makes it worth it. at least until the clear gas went up more quickly than the ethanol gas: $4.79/gal for premium $4.99/gal for clear that was a no-brainer. $4.79/gal for premium $5.99/gal for clear that is a little different calculus. that's about break-even for me - if those prices diverge further, then I will just need to stop driving as much. currently, I am managing about 50 miles/week at most.
