Do I read that right in the blurry image? CAMM only supports upto 6400 MT/s? I thought the entire reason for CAMM was to exceed that.

- adrian_b 3y agoWhile soldered LPDDR or graphic DRAM can go to higher speeds, currently there exists no CPU with official support for up to 6400 MT/s in socketed memory. The maximum is attained by Intel Raptor Lake and AMD Phoenix CPUs, which support DDR5-5600. So 6400 MT/s is already beyond the specifications of the current CPUs. Perhaps Intel Meteor Lake and Raptor Lake Refresh CPUs will support DDR5-6400. I assume that when CPUs supporting faster memories will appear, the CAMM specification will also be upgraded. The claims for CAMM are that in the future it will be possible to increase the memory throughput beyond what is achievable with DIMMs, but faster CPUs and memories than the current models are needed to take advantage of this.
