Yeah, no. Apple is an ad company now[1]. Their stance on personal data is not very different from Google i.e, your data is safe as long as it's with us. Which is just about as ridiculous a claim you can make when it comes to privacy. In the end, their interests lie in cornering the market for advertising to people who have purchased Apple devices.

- prepend 3y agoApple is as much an ad company as Google is a hardware company. Their revenue and profit are aligned toward selling hardware, not data and so their stance is, and can be very different from others. For an ad company, not selling ads and data kills their company. For a hardware company it’s possible to have a high margin by just selling devices.
