I think the AMD x3D line of chips is a great indicator of why intel hasn’t failed, and one of the ways that intel could move forward without directly moving in line with competition in the “nm space”. How has intel stayed roughly competitive in gaming despite having a worse process? Why is the x3D processors so much better than their competition?
Simply put, there is more to a processor than its IPC and process. Making chips that are better at niche tasks (especially business tasks as intel still has a large market, and laptops in the very low power and low cost space) is enough to keep them going healthily
