Bay Area-founded pizza startup Zume reportedly shuts down after raising $445M
- Stratoscope 3y agoI tried a Zume delivery several years ago, hoping to see their robotic pizza-cooking truck. It ended up being delivered in a regular car. From the article: > Bloomberg reported that the company quickly gave up on the cooking-while-driving model — cheese kept sliding around when the truck hit bumps in the road — and started parking in central locations to send out typical deliveries. The car delivery would have been OK, but both pizzas were terrible, just about the worst I've had. Did not order again. Went back to ordering from Amici's in Menlo Park. Theirs are always good, and their Caesar salad with house-made croutons is excellent. (Be sure to get anchovies on it!)
