The Hole Argument
- galaxyLogic 3y ago"... it seeks to show that spacetime substantivalism leads to a failure of determinism, meaning that a complete specification of the state of the universe at a given time, alongside the laws of nature of the theory under consideration (e.g., the laws of general relativity, which are Einstein’s field equations), fails to determine uniquely how the universe will evolve to the future ..." Didn't Quantum Theory already tell us that physical processes are non-deterministic? Then couple that with Chaos Theory which even though deterministic says that we can not truly predict how chaotic systems evolve into the future. So I don't understand why philosophers can't seem to accept the fact that indeterminism is a law of the Universe.
