Meanwhile, politicians in the US are literally almost dancing with glee [1] as they vote down efforts to establish a reasonable minimum wage. I don't understand this weird system where we all basically prop up corporate profits at the expense of voluntarily paying more by default. I do tip occasionally at the counter due to social pressure, and honestly have felt scammed several times when the server didn't get my order right, or didn't even bother to write my name correct after getting the 20% tip from my card.
