"For a futurist or visionary, Web3 is all about how Tim Berners-Lee's original concept of a semantic Web has evolved from being read-only to now read-write and soon read-write-trust-verify."
The entire point of having a blockchain is to not trust, but rather to verify independently -- these terms are contradictory to one another. In other words, removing single points of failure and control is the mission. While many projects are moving farther from these ideals, recent ongoings in the U.S with the SEC will cause the industry to hearken back to our roots as cypherpunks: the reason we began the fight for privacy and the freedom to transact in the first place. Blockchains introduce the notion of digital ownership in such a way that we need NOT be forced to rely on third parties to verify the state of the chain. Accordingly, I would amend the statement to say "read-write-own". We're not "just adding to the web", we're immortalizing our culture and ideals too.
