Skimmed the article, so am not sure if it mentions this, but I often use subtitles due to the incredibly bad audio mixing that seems to have been a trend in surprising amount of new releases over the past few years. I am not a native English speaker, but do have near perfect levels in TOEFL tests so it aint that.
