U.S. had intelligence of detailed Ukrainian plan to attack Nord Stream pipeline
- hunglee2 3y agoshouldn't this just be memory holed - there is no gain in spreading around theories, the narrative that this was a Russia planned op may not be entirely convincing but nevertheless is still has enthusiastic advocates
- rejectfinite 3y agoI can't tell if you are being ironic or not. Are you actually advocating to "memory hole" news that dont fit the narrative of "Ukraine best, Russia bad" Yes, Russia is bad. But we should still know the truth.

- miguelazo 3y agoUS giving way too much credit to the junior partners, as usual. But that’s why you have folks at the WaPo who write up these disinformation pieces.
- TurkishPoptart 3y agoOnly a combined American-Anglo-Nordic plan could have been as successful as blowing up Nord Stream pipeline with controlled demolitions. I don't believe this was a "Ukrainian plan".
- verdverm 3y agoI'm sure many countries have detailed plans this and many more things we are not talking about... Do you think the powers that be don't have plans and contingencies in place for subsea internet cables? I would be more concerned if they hadn't thought through these scenarios
- rejectfinite 3y ago>Do you think the powers that be don't have plans and contingencies in place for subsea internet cables? Russian ships probably cut the Norwegian one to Svalbard. https://www.thedrive.com/the-war-zone/43828/undersea-cable-connecting-norway-with-arctic-satellite-station-has-been-mysteriously-severed https://www.thedrive.com/the-war-zone/43828/undersea-cable-c... The "plan" is to repair asap. What do you mean? What plan? To do what?
- verdverm 3y agoPlans for attacking and protecting major infrastructure. It should not be surprising that such plans exist, rather it should be surprising if they do not exist Point being the article is trying to make something extraordinary out of the expected. Why would we not expect the major players to have some plan, if not multiple plans?

- rejectfinite 3y agoThis was on Swedish news too. Our investigation is not done yet. But the explosion happened near us, so this is big news. There were also Russian ships spotted going back and forth over the area before the explosion. I really don't know what to believe on this, it's very interesting.
- 2-718-281-828 3y agothis is hilarious ... because it was almost obvious all along but voicing it had you labelled a conspiracy nut. this was never plausibly on behalf of russia and no country would do sth like that without checking back with the states - whose president btw basically just announced something like that would happen on television. sometimes what you need isn't intel but common sense and some unbiased knowledge of contemporary politics and history.
- jakeinspace 3y agotbh I had my money on Poland after the first few days. Their motive seemed even stronger to me than the Ukrainian one.
- 2-718-281-828 3y agowell, i think it's still unknown how the vessel got into the baltic sea. the sea route is very long ... or they just chartered something suitable in poland and that then probably on sufferance by poland. while i agree that poland was also on the table as the primary actor that would have been a bit too bold of a political move for them to make.
- lamontcg 3y agoI could believe that a CIA advisor helped the Ukrainians design the plan and that Poland carefully looked the other way and didn't ask any questions.
- lamontcg 3y agoYeah, I'm having a big "I told you so" moment right about now. Ukraine had just about nothing to lose and everything to gain from shutting off the EU from buying gas from their enemy.
- actionfromafar 3y agoUkraine would be playing a dangerous game though. If caught, especially if caught earlier, well, the optics would have been bad. Very bad.
