I'm betting FTL is impossible due to physics. It would take 10k's-100k's of years to send a single autonomous robotic probe from a supposedly "nearby" inhabited planet even 500 ly away. We can't even make something that lasts 1000 years, much less something that would survive an interstellar journey. This guy is likely launching a book, public speaking, and subscription blog career.
