was the sitemap.xml located in the root of the domain?
https://www.google.com/ping?sitemap= https://www.google.com/ping?sitemap=
only works if there is a previous root reference (i.e. via robots.txt or via GSC submit) of the sitemap.xml
right issue, as from the original spec a sitemap can only submit URLs of the same or lower URL hierachy to Google.
or there is a root reference to the sitemap.xml
- eth0up 3y agoI don't remember the initial loc. It's now in the root dir as mentioned. However, I'm still not pleased with the results, but perhaps it takes time. I'm sure backlink or two wouldn't hurt.
