Those iPad Screens Are Getting Us to Tip More–Way More

- joegibbs 3y agoI think this will make people less likely to tip. I hate the imposition of it in Australia, so fingers crossed this will only result in becoming something that people are embarrassed of due to lacking willpower. After all, you've already paid for something, why should you give them extra money for free? You're not even giving it to the anyone in particular - you're just giving extra to the business because they asked.
- ftxbro 3y agoIn USA there is a very strong 'if you don't tip then you're "that guy"' culture. I think asking for more tips will make people more likely to tip. Probably the culture will change over time and it might end up like you say, for example maybe people born in 2023 will never tip and only boomers tip.
- beardyw 3y agoIn the UK I have regularly seen waiting staff bypass the tip screen on card terminals before I pay. Maybe I just look hard up.
