I don’t think I’ve ever seen a 40gbps capable cable that didn’t support 100W, and Apple isn’t the only one selling such cables with certification. Where are you finding these odd cables?
5/10/20gbps cables, those I’ve seen limited to 60W.
- jeroenhd 3y agoI'll believe it as soon as the manufacturer advertises it. If they have a cable that says "100W" and a different cable that says "high data transfer speed" then I can only assume the high speed one wasn't made to carry that much power. I know it's only a few amps but there's still a real risk of melting plastic and starting fires (and this has happened in the past).
