It's not possible to get into a Mac from step 2) Is this an old version of OS X? It does not work on Monterey or any of the M1/M2 Macs I have.
Additionally FileVault doesn't let this work on the older macs too.
It seems like you do need admin access in the first place, so its not really an attack.
- snakeroot 3y agodf to get the volume list, then ... mount -uw /dev/[Machintosh HD Volume] (by the way, I'd only be doing this on a Mac that I could restore and not care about my files - always back up)
