Restoring the Amazon could aid climate control, but it's challenging
- CrampusDestrus 3y agoRestoring the Amazon would be great locally because it would stabilize the local ecosystem of weather events. I think we should push more on the local benefits of environmentalism. A single city banning petrol engines is just a blip on the radar, but the sudden embetterment of the air? The sudden removal of noise pollution? The sudden decrease in respiratory illnesses and cancers? That's noticeable to the population, unlike some mysterious "global" phenomenon. A single town repopulating the local forest is only a blip on the radar, but the increased resilience against floods and landslides? Better air and, better outdoors opportunities? Better local climate? That's noticeable
