As one of the TVL folks, we aim for cache compatibility (i.e. output path equality), so the NixOS cache itself is highly relevant to us, too. Would we choose to host it on S3? Probably not, but that's where it is right now and we have to be realistic about whether or not that will change. Personally I don't think so, though even on S3 there are still some optimisations to be done.
