Snopes: the rise, fall, and rebirth of an internet icon
- bequanna 3y agoI think half of the people in the US use Snopes to confirm their beliefs and the other half disregard Snopes’ findings and put them in the biased media bucket.
- smegsicle 3y agosnopes's kneejerk 'FALSE' followed by a page of lukewarm pilpul for everything from 'monster energy drink marketing uses satanic symbolism' to 'children being offered icecream in exchange for being vaccinated without parent approval' makes it a 'nopes' for me
- dicknuckle 3y agoSo you disagree that Monster Energy isn't satanic?
- smegsicle 3y agonot sure what you mean by 'is satanic' but the branding is obviously inspired by book of revelation tropes

- version_five 3y agoYeah I choked on that too when it went by.
- sublinear 3y agoThe ads on this page made it almost unreadable and I didn't have much motivation to read this anyway, so I didn't. I'm just going to disagree based on the title, and chime in that Snopes was always terrible and always will be.
- Dwedit 3y agoBlock scripts from "assets.fastcompany.com" to get rid of the obnoxious thing covering up the page.
- smitty1e 3y agoFact-checking the Babylon Bee was pure seppuku.
- friend_and_foe 3y agoRebirth? This reads like paid PR. I don't recall any sort of rebirth.
