I love electric vehicles. But increasingly I feel duped – Rowan Atkinson
- simon_acca 3y agoFull title (too long for HN): “I love electric vehicles – and was an early adopter. But increasingly I feel duped Rowan Atkinson“
- Paddy3118 3y agoI don't want an electric Suv - I need an electric Carver for £5,000 and a car share of something larger and more luxurious for less frequent long trips.
- zeristor 3y agoNot much thought given to tail pipe pollution in dense urban areas, it’s like he’s never had to commute to some of London’s red zones.
- jaclaz 3y agoI am not sure what you mean, that point is mentioned: >Electric cars, of course, have zero exhaust emissions, which is a welcome development, particularly in respect of the air quality in city centres. >Friends with an environmental conscience often ask me, as a car person, whether they should buy an electric car. I tend to say that if their car is an old diesel and they do a lot of city centre motoring, they should consider a change. But otherwise, hold fire for now.
- Kaibeezy 3y agoWell written article. Not funny at all. The biggest benefit of EVs is clearly on urban air pollution. The Prius brought us high MPGs, also a huge benefit. EVs are a result of “if a little is good, more is better” decisionmaking, and all the green credentials got conflated. A sad example of what John Kerry called “trivialized decisiveness”.
