Ask HN: Looking for the Shazam for Song Fragments
Yesterday I was listening to Perfect Circle's "The Noose" and I noticed a particular pattern I really like about this song that I remember listening to in other songs, but there's no way to look for them.
It'd be great to have an app which receives some short fragment of a song and returns a list of songs containing similar sounding patterns.
Do you know if something like this already exists?
- Zelphyr 3y agoI'm not familiar with anything but, being a fan, I'm curious what part of "The Noose" you're referring to?
- mfalcon 3y ago3:19 to 4:00
- JWitcoff 3y agoDo you think it would make more sense to analyze chord progressions or another aspect of the song to derive similar songs?
- mfalcon 3y agoI honestly don't know. Chord progressions sound as one approach but I'm not sure.
