Microsoft Teams on Windows 11 gets Discord-like communities and an AI art tool
- thewataccount 3y agoIf only they could make it more responsive. My experience will all web based microsoft apps including teams (both desktop and web) is that it's crazy slow - there's a good 1sec flash between changing screens/chats, and even then it still has to load the content. I realize that doesn't sound like a ton of time but it's agony. It also takes forever to load other people's statuses when changing chats for some reason, and it unloads chat history so quickly in both directions that scrolling through a chat is so painful. Compared to discord which feels near instantly loads whatever server/chat you click on (at least relative to teams).
- w0m 3y agoThe rewrite is markedly more responsive thankfully; but still not where it needs to be.

Discord won't even load channels on the server let alone any messages.
- brucethemoose2 3y agoI dont really like Discord and Discord imitators. Its a good chat tool, but its also siloing off and polluting what should be publicly searchable discussions and newsfeeds. But its already ubiquitous. I dont think even MS can overcome the network effect outside of their niche (like teams based businesses).
- nikau 3y agoGreat stuff, why focus on things like the bug where it types characters right to left if you start typing too early after it switches a chat tab.
- bouke 3y agoBecause why work bugs if you can work on all this other cool stuff that looks good on your resume?
