OpenOffice: The Zombie Software That Won’t Die
- Sunspark 3y agoMy suspicion is that the reason they don't just sunset the "project" is because there's some sort of back-channel agreement where they agree to keep it around to try and fragment the possible competition to the juggernaut that is MS Office. That said, this project is the perfect job for a lazy programmer looking for a dead-end job that doesn't require working but does require looking busy and attending meetings. Imagine, all you have to do is just surf the web and do "clean up" commits here and there.. no heavy-lifting like introducing new features or anything because they're not allowed to begin with.
