I don't know if the US goated Russia into this, it also doesn't matter since it was Putins decision in the end. However some of what this article states is just hogwash. "Third, NATO enlargement never posed a military threat to Russia". The US has placed nuclear weapons in Europe to allow a quicker aniliation of the "enemy" [1]. How can this not be interpreted as a threat? This would be like Russia having nukes stored in Cuba. I highly doubt the US would not see that as a theat to their national security.
